Big Rig Brews Special Collaboration with Prud'Homme Beer Sommelier Students

Big Rig Brewery is excited for the release of a special new one-off—You’re So Last Saison!

It was brewed in collaboration with students of the first ever Prud’homme Beer Sommelier Program held in Ottawa. The beer stays true to the style, but then adds a fun, modern twist.

“The old world saison yeast we used gives it the classic dry, spicy saison character,” explains Cody Munro, Big Rig Brewery’s lead brewer on this collaboration. “And then we used the mosaic hop. It’s a newer hop, which imparts aromas and flavours of mango, lemon, stone fruit. It melds so well with the  peppery phenol notes from the yeast.”

You're So Last Saison

Roger Mittag led the Prud’homme Beer Sommelier Program. He instructed six students through Level 3 of the program. The class culminated in the brewing of this beer at Big Rig Brewery.

The graduating students, and public, will get their first taste of You’re So Last Saison!—which rings in at 7.2%—at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23 at the brewery’s taproom. It’s a great kick-off to the week, which sees the Canadian Brewing Awards descend upon Ottawa.
